Mumbai: The much-awaited digital release of Mirzapur: The Movie is here. After its theatrical run, the film began streaming on Amazon Prime Video on October 30, giving fans another chance to revisit the crime drama’s familiar characters, rivalries and battle for power. The OTT version also brings a special extended cut featuring scenes that were not part of the theatrical release.
Extended Version Offers More Than the Theatrical Cut
Set within the timeline of the first season of Mirzapur, the film explores a previously untold chapter in the franchise. The struggle for control of the throne moves beyond Purvanchal, taking the characters into a desert setting while retaining the power games and intense rivalries associated with the series.
The theatrical version, which received an A certificate, had a runtime of 3 hours and 17 minutes. The extended edition available on Prime Video runs for 3 hours and 31 minutes, adding 14 minutes of previously unseen footage.
Director Gurmmeet Singh Shares His Vision
Director Gurmmeet Singh said the film offered an opportunity to take the familiar world of Mirzapur onto a bigger canvas while exploring its characters in a different way. He added that the creative team wanted to retain the grit and intensity that define the franchise.
With the film now available to a wider audience through Prime Video, Singh said he was looking forward to viewers discovering the story. He also described the extended edition as a special treat, giving fans additional scenes from a world they already know and love.

They described taking Mirzapur from streaming to cinemas as a new experience and expressed happiness over the response to the film’s theatrical release. The producers hope its arrival on Prime Video will introduce the story to more viewers while giving existing fans another opportunity to return to the franchise.

Universal Music India Managing Director Devraj Sanyal also shared his thoughts on the special edition in an Instagram post. He revealed that the extended version was the cut the makers had watched before the film’s official release, while a shorter version eventually reached theatres.
Sanyal praised the film’s box-office performance, the popularity of its music and the franchise’s success. He encouraged viewers to watch the extended edition at home, either individually or with friends, family and fellow fans.
